Information vs. action

So here I am in Wheaton, Illinois at a RZIM conference on mending the breech in apologetics. One of the facets which has stood out today is the need to balance information and action. We are having the benefit of receiving a tremendous number of resources for further information, and thankfully some of the speakers have also identified that information without action is not of use for anyone.

To quote Arun Andrews, "Do I delight in my devotion as well as devote myself to His delight?". It makes me think that the appropriate spot on the spectrum between information and action can be different for everyone. The real trick is finding out where on that spectrum each one of us should be.

I think that it is also appropriate to appreciate the fact that our position on this spectrum is not static but comes, as with many other things in life, in seasons. The current example for myself is that I am definitely in a season of absorbing information and not action.

Or am I?

So far I have met, amongst others, a recovering addict, two contractors, two business owners, a retired researcher, and movie maker, and a self funded youth minister. Perhaps it is not so much that our position changes, but that the way in which we demonstrate action changes.

Speaking of information and action, I believe I must now attend our next session.
